If a user wants to do more detailed, holistic planning, they can go through into Pensions Freedom Planner, which brings in their data. This wider offering means our client can serve all types of employees and their needs.

Supplying APIs for a global asset manager's automated advice process
Our client, a global asset manager, wanted to build an automated advice process that included the explanation and calculation of risk and reward for each investment. They had created various tools and calculators before, but they hadn’t yet given advice in this way.
As well as needing technical help, they were under tight time pressure and wanted to use a robust forecasting solution that was immediately accessible. In particular, they faced issues around finding and using an appropriate Risk Questionnaire. Most came in tool-form, which would have hindered where and how it was used in the journey.
Easy to add and adapt for new clients
At a glance
Our client is a global employee benefits consultant (EBC). It has a Master Trust pension used by people in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. This was a brand-new offering and would enable the organisation to hold assets-under-management themselves. The EBC wanted a simple and engaging site, so people could easily access their information and see what their workplace pension is doing for them.
We have a long-standing relationship with this client and members of their other schemes have access to our Retirement Planner, so we started work on this project.

We gave the client access to our API Portal so the development team could get up and running with the right forecasting. Information was available in multiple currencies, allowing for expansion into different territories. The APIs we supply are for the investment forecast, the risk questionnaire and chance to beat target.
Our client could also overcome issues around Risk Questionnaires. Instead of using a tool, they use our API. They can use it in their journey wherever they want.
After the initial tender process, we gave our client consultancy support and taught the development team how to best use our APIs. We worked with business analysts, project managers, technical teams (including programmers and an architect), as well SMEs in advice, and the proposition owner.

Our client can also edit and alter the site for each new client they bring in: they can self-serve, rather than asking us to set up new projects. It’s also made them stand out among the competition: their Master Trust is highly thought of.

We have two roles in this project: we provide our tools to the client, as well as building and maintaining the site. By blending our client’s simple tool with our detailed tools, they can meet a wider range of user needs.
Consistency across guidance
We have two roles in our client’s project: to build and develop the site and provide the components. We built the site itself, and now we maintain it and make ongoing changes to the bespoke tools on their behalf.
Using our client’s designs, we built two front-ends: one for people who are saving up for retirement and one for those in retirement. The site is powered by our Retirement Planning APIs and uses our Budget Planner widget too. It also uses our Pensions Freedom Planner for members who do more detailed modelling.
The EBC uses our products to give their members guidance; cover them both pre- and in-retirement; and cater for all needs, whether it’s high-level or in detail. Data flows from the site and into the tools, giving users a seamless, personalised journey.
